Trauma is very much like PTSD and in most cases the same. However, there are times when the trauma that occurred was not perceived as a life or death situation. Yet, the results can be just as debilitating.
In working with trauma I often find that the client has made meaning from the trauma in a way that impacts how they see them self. Someone who survived a car crash might have PTSD and not change how they feel about their own self. However, someone who was sexually abused as a child commonly has a difficult time holding on to a positive self image.
While Lifespan Integration Therapy is a powerful therapy for clearing trauma and the resulting emotional pain, there are other approaches too.
Feel free to call or email if you want more information on how I might work with your situation.
